With 99.9 percentile, Saarth Tricity topper in JEE Main

CHANDIGARH: Saarth Singla from Chandigarh scored 99.99 percentile (285 out of 300 marks) to top the Tricity in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2022, the results of which were declared on Monday.

The 17-year-old student of government senior secondary school, Sector 32, said hard work and consistency were the reasons behind his success.

“My teachers guided me for two years. I used to study for 6-7 hours daily by taking regular breaks,” said Saarth who was inspired by his brother, an engineer. Saarth wants to become a computer science engineer and join IIT, Bombay. Saarth had been the captain of the school basketball team. He has also been a Kishore Vaigyanika Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Scholar.

His father is an advocate practising at the Mohali district court and mother a homemaker.

Panchkula resident Vaasu Singla (17) also scored 285 out of 300 marks to figure in the list of toppers. A student of Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School, Sector 38, Chandigarh, he credited his parents and teachers for his success. “I believe in hard work, consistency and discipline to achieve goals,” said Vaasu who spent 6-7 hours a day on. Vaasu aims to be part of any top IIT institute. His father is an ADGM in BHEL, while his mother is a homemaker.

More than 20 students from the Tricity scored above 99.90 percentile and above 90 students 99 percentile.

The JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board. In total 8,72,432 candidates were registered for BE /BTech. The result of BE /BTech was declared on Monday.
