CD Projekt Red has delayed the new-generation versions of The Witcher 3. Initially, the game was coming out in 2022’s second-quarter release window, but that’s no longer the case.
On Wednesday, CD Projekt Red announced that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports of The Witcher 3 aren’t coming out anytime soon, as development is moving internally.
“We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” CD Projekt Red’s statement reads on Twitter. “We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.”

Previously, Saber Interactive was working on these ports. CD Projekt Red didn’t elaborate on why it’s handing things from here on out. This project has seen multiple delays already, so who knows what’s going on.
CD Projekt Red promises to update fans when possible but didn’t share any hard details. With the announcement of another mainline Witcher RPG, many were hoping to revisit the best moments from Witcher 3 on new-generation consoles sooner rather than later. That’ll just have to wait, though.
After Cyberpunk 2077’s rough launch, CD Projekt Red likely isn’t taking any chances with less-than-perfect ports.
