Piner High School has reprimanded a football captain whose 'Free the Cornell 7' Instagram post triggered a mass student protest in Santa Rosa, California. More than 200 students walked out of class on Friday, 9 October, marching to district offices in a show of solidarity with survivors of sexual violence.

According to reports, Santa Rosa City Schools confirmed disciplinary action following an investigation into the 2 October post, which appeared to support seven Cornell University students accused in a sexual assault case. The district has withheld details because the footballer is a minor.
