Winter Love Island will return for a second series next year, according to reports.
The first and only series saw Paige Turley become the first ever Scottish winner of series, when she paired up with Finn Tapp in a luxury villa in South Africa back in 2020.
Since then, the show has been shelved due to the Covid pandemic.
But The Sun is reporting that the winter edition of the much-loved ITV2 reality show could be back on the cards for 2023.
A source told the publication that producers have now kicked off planning for the series ahead of Love Island’s summer return next month.
“Love Island bosses enjoyed the one and only series of Winter Love Island, but it was just before the pandemic raged so was shelved”, they said.
“When they started casting for this summer’s series they thought there’s definitely enough talent to a do a second series again so have started the plans for a 2023 Winter Love Island.
“The series generally is really important for them as it attracts the all-important younger viewers, so if they can get a second series in one year then everyone will be delighted.”
This summer’s series of Love Island is expected to be the ‘longest ever’ and will take place at a brand new villa in its home of Mallorca.
Welsh bricklayer Liam Reardon and fashion buyer Millie Court were crowned winners on the 2021 edition of the show last August.
Love Island 2022 will kick off on ITV2 from June 6 this year.
