Wimbledon: Dimitrov, Swiatek hit cruise mode as climate protesters disrupt play

LONDON: Tuesday, dank and dismal, was rain-washed. The only matches to go through at Wimbledon were those played under the roof on Centre and Court No. 1. Some 87 singles matches were scheduled for Wednesday, only a fraction of those games fell in the to-be-completed column. The order of play was heavy and so was the sky at SW19, dark and threatening to begin with.

A delayed start was followed by some start-stop-start rides and play hit full throttle by early evening. Along the way, an environmental protest group 'Just Stop Oil' said their piece. A couple of protestors ran onto Court No. 18 throwing 'environmentally friendly' confetti and jigsaw bricks from a 1000-piece Wimbledon 'Centre Court View' puzzle box across the court.
