A witness to the fatal car crash at a girls’ prep school in Wimbledon has described seeing a crying baby in an ambulance after the tragic incident occurred.
An eight-year-old girl died, and 10 others were injured, after a Land Rover crashed into The Study Preparatory school in Camp Road, where an end-of-term tea party was underway on Thursday morning.
A witness at the scene told The Times: “There was one little baby that was in the ambulance who was crying uncontrollably.”
On Friday, locals continued to visit the scene of the crash, laying flowers and cards outside the gates of the school.
According to one report, a woman wearing a blue sling around her arm left a note, apparently addressed to the girl who died.
It read: “Dear Selena, you will always be our shining star. We will miss you so much.”
The note included a picture of a star and had kisses on it.
On Friday, The Study Prep school issued a statement over the “tragic accident” saying the community is “profoundly shocked” by the death of one of its pupils.
