That Dryer Sheet in Your Mailbox Isn’t Trash — Here’s Why It May Be There
A dryer sheet tucked inside a mailbox may be intended to discourage insects, but its fragrance does not guarantee pest protection. Regular inspections and proper mailbox maintenance offer a more reliable starting point – Shutterstock

A dryer sheet tucked inside a mailbox can look like a piece of laundry that took a wrong turn. Yet someone may have placed it there deliberately, hoping to discourage insects, spiders, or other unwanted visitors. That sounds convenient, especially if you have ever opened your mailbox and found a spider waiting among the envelopes. Unfortunately, a popular household tip does not automatically qualify as a reliable pest-control method.
