Will Mellor's Strictly chances boosted by Craig Revel-Horwood remark

Will Mellor's odds of winning Strictly Come Dancing has improved significantly after judge Craig Revel-Horwood singled him out as the celeb he was looking forward to seeing.

Will, who shot to fame in the mid-90s as one of the original cast members on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, was the first dancing star to be confirmed for the new series of the BBC show, with him being joined on the Strictly line-up for the likes of Kym Marsh, Tony Adams, Fleur East and Matt Goss.

On the subject of being a contestant on Strictly, Will said: "I'm honestly so chuffed to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year! Not going to lie, it's totally out of my comfort zone and I know it will be a huge challenge but that's what life is all about. This is also my Mum's favourite show and she’s had a really tough few years so I’m doing this is for her as well. Bring it on!”

Fans were very excited to learn that Will, star of Two Pints of Lager and No Offence, be heading into the ballroom and someone else clearly keen to see him in action is hard to please judge Craig.

Whilst appearing on The One Show this week, Craig was put on the spot by host Alex Jones on who he thinks will win, to which he replied: "Who's going to win it? I'm looking forward to seeing Will, I've got to say. I think he's got a real charm about him and I think he'll be able to bring that onto the dancefloor."

Well bookies have clearly taken Craig's comment as indication that Will will do rather well, as he has now moved up to third favourite to win with William Hill on odds on 5/1, behind early favourite Fleur and ex Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton.

The top five tips to win Strictly this year is rounded out by CBBC icon Molly Rainford and singer and actress Kym Marsh.

Tony Kenny, Head of Sponsorship PR at William Hill, weighed in on the actor’s odds: “Will Mellor is a staple to British television, and it’s about time that he gets on that landmark dancefloor!

Having already garnered interest from Strictly’s toughest judge, it’ll be interesting to see how Mellor fares on the dancefloor and whether he will bring that charm that Craig Revel Horwood is excited about.”
