Will Graham McTavish return for Outlander season 7?

Fresh from the set of the second season of Men in Kilts, which he filmed with fellow Scottish star Sam Heughan, is the ever-busy Graham McTavish set to make a return to the set of Outlander?

Rumours are beginning to circulate that the Hobbit star could be on his way back. The New Zealand-based star made a surprise return in season five, not as his original character Dougal but as Dougal's grown-up son, William Buccleigh "Buck" MacKenzie.

According to Hello magazine, a fan recently took to Reddit to ask: "Do you think Buck will be in season seven and if so, do you think it'll be Graham again?"

They continued: "He portrayed him in season five, but wouldn't be unheard of for prior stunt casting to be recast as someone else later… Also not unheard of for the show to eliminate characters who are only partly significant."

Many agreed it would be great to see him back on the show and book fans adding that – spoilers, skip this part if you don't want to know what happens – the scenes with Buck and Roger's family when they are all flung into the future again via the stones are hugely enjoyable.

However, with the recent rumours the show might end in season 7 or 8, some fans think this might mean Graham McTavish doesn't return to the show.

One wrote: "I think they could very conceivably cut Roger's whole stint in the past and all the stuff about Buck lurking around Lallybroch in the 80s. It's just an easy way for the show writers to streamline MOBY's plot, since they have a lot to cover between Echo and MOBY."

While another added that it all hinges on whether we get a season 8 or not, stating: "If there will be season 8 I expect that there will be Buck, probably played by Graham, if he is willing.

"But if they'll end with season 7 Buck will be probably cut even if they combine books 7 and 8 in one season."

And even Graham himself is keeping his cards close to his chest, when asked about returning to Outlander by Digital Spy , the House of Dragon star joked: "Well, I know he's in the books – I think he's in book seven and eight – but I don't know."

"Well, listen, I'll tell you one thing about this business is that the actors are the last to know!"

The last to know indeed – what do you think? Will Graham return?
