Peacock’s Twisted Metal TV show is shaping up rather nicely. At least as far as the cast goes.
A report by Variety confirms that Will Arnett, best-known for Arrested Development and BoJack Horseman, will voice the sinister clown Sweet Tooth in Twisted Metal. Anyone familiar with the classic PlayStation series will undoubtedly remember that devilish yet hair-raising jester. I certainly do, despite never once touching the series. I’m curious how the character will appear on-screen since it’s a live-action series, and Arnett is only doing the voice.
Arnett joins the likes of Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, Anthony Mackie, and Nev Campbell. Unlike the rest, Arnett is also an executive producer on Twisted Metal alongside Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick — the duo best known for writing the Deadpool films. At the same time, Michael Jonathan Smith of Cobra Kai fame takes on writer, executive producer, and showrunner duties.
Twisted Metal is only one of several video game adaptations in the works at Sony Pictures. The company is working with Netflix on Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War for Amazon Prime.
