The Wicklow Pride Festival has announced its Grand Marshall for its inaugural event.
Rebecca (Bex) Tallon is set to represent the LGBTQ+ community at the event on July 1, 2023. A proud, Irish, transgender woman, Bex was instrumental in driving legislative change for Irish transgender people to be identified by their correct gender on their passports.
Speaking about the upcoming Pride Parade, Bex said: "I’m delighted it’s brighter for everybody right now, but I would say we still have a long way to go. I never thought I would live long enough to see society change."

Bex runs boot camps for Trans girls and is an active sexual health campaigner as well as finding time to be a journalist, grandmother, and all-around queen. She was the Grand Marshall of the LGBT section of the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin last year.
The first-ever Wicklow Pride Parade will be held in Wicklow Town this year. You can sign up to volunteer, sponsor, or walk in the parade on the website.
