Why was Celtic boss Sadiku was stopped from post-match Rangers interview?

Elena Sadiku was unable to carry out post-match interviews after Celtic women against Rangers after being sent off.

The Celtic manager was shown a red card for two bookings in the 3-2 loss on Sunday.

Sadiku was left furious with the decision to award Rangers a penalty in the derby contest with her reaction earning a booking.

The Celtic boss then applauded the referee leading to a second yellow and subsequent sending off meaning Sadiku had to leave the dugout.

Sky Sports presenter Eilidh Barbour stated after the match that officials prevented Sadiku from speaking to the broadcaster after the match due to the red card.

The presenter explained: "We were hoping to speak with Celtic boss Elena Sadiku but unfortunately the officials won't let her out to speak with us because she was sent off."

Rules state that officials who are sent off must leave the field of play and its immediate surrounds, including the technical area.

Law 5 reads: "The referee takes action against team officials who fail to act in a responsible manner and warns or shows a yellow card for a caution or a red card for a sending-off from the field of play and its immediate surrounds, including the technical area."

With interviews being held at the side of the pitch, it could be that Sadiku was unable to attend with it being the "immediate surrounds" of the pitch.

Speaking to Celtic TV post-match, assistant David Haley said: "It was obviously a difficult one to take. They score a late-ish goal to take the three points but we are a wee bit disappointed with our first half performance.

"I think that in terms of duels and things, we weren't quite at it. We weren't quite aggressive enough in terms of even being a couple yards forward.

"I think we done that in the second half and we created chances from that. So, to lose the third goal was a tough one to take."
