Stephen Curry has revolutionized the NBA with his three-point shooting ability, already owning the record for most three-pointers in NBA history. However, the Warriors point guard also has changed the league off the court in a surprising way.
While being interviewed on Showtime’s Headliners with Rachel Nichols alongside Golden State coach Steve Kerr, Curry addressed how his love for popcorn became a whole separate project.
“I get to the arena, that’s the first thing I’m looking for. There inside or just outside the locker room,” Curry said. “Then it became a thing where I started to rate them. I had a whole printout, a whole chart.”
Did you know Steph Curry is responsible for a rise in the quality of popcorn at arenas around the NBA? Yep 😂 He explains on the latest episode of Headliners, streaming now on Showtime and Paramount+ pic.twitter.com/nnxu5umwG2

Curry mentioned that he began to rank each NBA arena’s popcorn based on a variety of factors, including saltiness, crunch, butter, temperature and portion size. When arenas found out about Curry’s interest, they wanted to make sure he enjoyed their popcorn.
“I just went through the whole league that year and ranked them, then the word got out,” he said. “Now I get hand-written notes from whoever the locker room attendants are, even the chefs.”
With this in mind, chefs around the NBA are paying more attention to their popcorn than they have in the past, according to Nichols.
“Around the league, popcorn vendors, the quality stepped up,” Nichols said.
Curry is a future Hall of Famer for his four championships, shooting ability and all around superstar-level career. However, a tidbit on his Hall of Fame résumé may be the improved popcorn for fans around the league.
