Many older adults grew up believing that more medical testing automatically meant better healthcare. However, doctors and medical organizations now say some routine exams may become unnecessary (or even potentially harmful) as people age. In recent years, experts involved with the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force and the Choosing Wisely campaign have warned about “over-screening” older adults for conditions unlikely to affect their quality of life or longevity.
