- Monty Don has spoken more about his decision to step down as the lead presenter of BBC ’s Gardeners’ World after more than 20 years on the programme.
- The 71-year-old presenter took over as lead presenter from Alan Titchmarsh in 2002 and has presented the show from his home garden at Longmeadow in Herefordshire since 2011.
- “The commute is delightfully short, but when I go home I take the job with me, seven days a week, 24 hours a day,” he said. “One day this summer, I woke up and knew it was time to stop. Simple as that.”
- He plans to continue collaborating with the BBC on new projects, write more books, and carry on gardening at Longmeadow.
- The BBC is yet to announce his replacement, with regular presenters Frances Tophill and Adam Frost currently considered frontrunners.
