Flu season is arriving early, and this year it started in an unusual place. The CDC's latest FluView report, published Oct. 23 with data through the week ending Oct. 17, shows flu activity still low nationally but rising on several measures since late August or early September. Of the flu viruses subtyped by public health labs that week, 99.2% were influenza A(H1N1).
The CDC's previous weekly report placed the highest activity on the West Coast, in the two federal health regions that cover California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, and Idaho.
