People across the North East have been left shocked by the significant increase in the price of Lurpak.
It has become symbolic of the spiralling cost of living, with shoppers astounded by the prices they are now seeing in supermarkets. Wales Online reports how some stores including ASDA have reportedly started to add security tags in a bid to deter shop lifters.
Sainsbury's is charging £7.25 for a 750g tub of the lightly salted favourite in it's online store. Tesco is selling the same-sized tub for £5.30. A Twitter image showed 750g packs for £6 in Asda - a reduction the shelf label said of 75p, but still at £8 a kilogramme.
