One of the strangest things about driving an electric vehicle for the first time is realizing that it can make a sound when you can barely hear the car itself.
At a parking-lot crawl, an EV might emit a futuristic hum, whine, or artificial-sounding tone. Lift off the accelerator, and it can change pitch. Put the car in reverse, and you might hear another distinctive sound altogether.
