Why Arsenal vs Everton is not on TV and how to follow Premier League fixture

Arsenal are back in action with a chance of putting some more distance between themsevlves and Manchester City on Wednesday. With a current two point cushion to Pep Guardiola's men that can be extended to the original five point distance with a win against the Toffees.

It was the 1-0 loss at Goodison Park that started a mini blip for Mikel Arteta in a run that saw them lose two games and draw one, temporarily dropping from the top of the league. City's failure to beat Nottingham Forest last week has handed the Gunners another chance to move away from the chasing Manchester sides.

The game comes at a time with no added pressure of City playing before or afterwards, making up the game in hand. It has been a fixture that was originally scheduled to be played in early September and space has only now popped up in the cramped calendar.

As fans now clamour to watch Arsenal look to assert themselves back as favourites for the title race many will be left disappointed. In the UK, other than the 60,000 fans at the Emirates Stadium, there won't be a way to watch the game.

Despite its importance in the title race and the narrative given the pair's meeting just under one month ago the game wasn't scheduled for TV coverage back in September and cannot be added to the listings here. With Everton struggling under Frank Lampard and Arsenal still early in their title charge it wasn't deemed an attractive pick for the broadcasters.

For example, Tottenham against Manchester City and Liverpool vs Chelsea was also due to be played that weekend and took centre stage. Matches were cancelled though due to Queen Elizabeth II's death. This is the first available slot for Arsenal and Everton to play the game but the TV coverage has to carry over.

It was due to be played at 3pm on Saturday, September 10 but will now be played at 7:45pm on Wednesday, March 1. The rules that mean it cannot now be picked up by broadcasters retrospectively has caused anger for supporters now unable to watch a crucial game.
