Who won Super Bowl 2023? Result from Kansas City Chiefs vs Philadelphia Eagles

The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl champions after a thrilling win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles, who are NFC Champions, went into the game as favourites after an incredible season. The AFC Champion Chiefs had the brainpower of head coach Andy Reid and the flawless arm of megastar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and were simply the better team on the night in Arizona.

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles got on the board early with a touchdown within the opening two minutes of the game, but it wasn't long before the Chiefs came firing back with a touchdown of their own.

An immense second quarter from the Chiefs saw them take a 24-14 lead into half-time, and it appeared Mahomes' night could have been over after he re-aggravated his ankle injury just before the half-time break.

However, the Chiefs came out revitalised after the extended break - while Rihanna gave an incredible performance at the half-time show - and quickly got on the board early in the third.

They thought they'd got another quick touchdown after Hurts was intercepted, but a review determined the catch was an incomplete, rather than an interception.

A field goal form the Eagles allowed them to carry a 27-21 lead into the fourth quarter. Their lead was quickly wiped out early in the fourth, however, as Kadarius Toney caught a Mahomes pass to dance into the end zone for a touchdown, giving the Chiefs a one-point lead.

The Eagles just didn't know when they were beaten, however, and came back once again with Hurts again performing a quarterback sneak to score his third touchdown of the game - setting the record for most touchdowns by a quarterback in a Super Bowl.

After such an incredible game, one considered by NFL fans to be one of the best in living memory, there was controversy in the final minutes after a penalty issued against the Eagles allowed the Chiefs to simply run down the clock and get themselves into field goal position with seconds left. With 8 seconds remaining, Harrison Butker kicked the game-winning field goal to give the Chiefs a three-point lead, which was enough to secure them the win and the Vince Lombardi trophy.
