A new picture of the closest friends and family of King Charles and Queen Camilla has caused great interest. The shot, released after the historic coronation of Charles III has left many wondering who exactly are these people - and what is their relationship to the new king.
In the picture above we see the king and queen with from left, Ralph Tollemache, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Nicholas Barclay, Prince George, the Marchioness of Lansdowne, King Charles III, Queen Camilla, the Queen’s sister Annabel Elliot, the Queen’s grandson Freddy Parker Bowles, the Queen’s great-nephew Arthur Elliot, and the Queen’s grandsons Gus Lopes and Louis Lopes, the Mirror reports.
It was taken in the Buckingham Palace’s throne room by Hugh Burnard straight after their appearance on the palace balcony shows the King looking regal in his Robe of Estate and Imperial State Crown. The Queen is pictured wearing Queen Mary’s crown and Robe of Estate - with the couple surrounded by their attendants. A second photograph was also released showing a beaming King with his two heirs Prince William and Prince George.
Here is a rundown of who is in the picture (from left to right).
Ralph Tollemache
Page of honour Ralph Tollemache is aged 12 and the son of Edward. Edward is a banker and aristocrat and Charles attended his wedding to wife Sophie in 2007. Charles is also Edward’s godfather.
Lord Oliver Cholmondeley
Oliver, aged 13, is a son of the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley and his wife and former model, Rose Hanbury. His father David, 62, a filmmaker, was a page of honour to the late Queen for two years from the ages of 14 to 16 in the 1970s.
The family live at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, close to Prince William and Kate’s Anmer Hall and they are good friends.
Nicholas Barclay
Nicholas Barclay, 13, one of the King’s four pages of honour, is the grandson of Sarah Troughton, the Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, who was a lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of Kent from 1990-2000. She is a second cousin of King Charles III via her maternal grandfather, who was a brother of the Queen Mother. Sarah is one of Queen Camilla’s six companions who accompany her on engagements
Prince George
Prince William’s oldest son, George is nine and younger than most of the other page boys. He is second in line to the British throne.
Marchioness of Lansdowne
The Marchioness of Lansdowne, is one of Camilla’s dearest friends. She was appointed to the Royal Household last year as one of Camilla’s trusted Queen’s companions. She is 68, called Fiona and is an interior designer and godmother to Camilla’s daughter Laura.
Annabel Elliot
To the right of Camilla is another of her attendants, her younger sister Annabel Elliot who is one of the queen’s companions. Annabel, aged 74, is an interior designer and antiques expert and is said to be close with Charles and Camilla.
Freddy Parker Bowles
Freddy Parker Bowles, 13, is Camilla’s grandson and child of her son food critic Tom and ex-wife Sara.
Arthur Elliot
The second of Camilla’s pages is her 10-year-old great-nephew Arthur Elliot. Arthur is the grandson of Camilla’s sister Annabel and his father Ben is a former co-chairman of the Conservative party. His mum Mary-Clare is the daughter of singer Steve Winwood, who had hits with Valerie and Higher Love and sang at the Coronation concert, and he also has a younger brother called Ike.
Gus and Louis Lopes
Featuring in the far right of the shot are Camilla’s two other grandsons and pages of honour, twins Gus then Louis Lopes. The 13-year-olds are the younger sons of Camilla’s daughter Laura and her husband Harry.
