Clara Amfo is well known to radio fans as the presenter of BBC Radio 1’s mid-morning show. Last year Amfo was confirmed as host of BBC Three streetwear competition series The Drop. The Drop is a new entertainment show for BBC Three that invites nine of Britain’s most promising up-and-coming creatives to enter their streetwear brand into a life-changing competition.
The series is judged by world-renowned designers Marc Jacques Burton, Blondey as well as artist Miguel. Filmed in Manchester, the series captures the cultural synergy between fashion, music, sport, celebrity and business and provides one individual with a life-changing prize.

Who is The Drop presenter Clara Amfo?
Born in Kingston-upon-Thames to Ghanaian parents. Her mother is a hospital cleaner while her father, who died in 2015, was an NHS microbiologist. Amfo has four brothers and a sister.
Amfo got her foot in the door as a presenter on Nickelodeon, and by entering a contestant in the BBC Talent competition, which landed her a job at CBBC. Her radio career began at Kiss FM presenting the overnight show, where she was promoted to Saturday breakfast and then the drivetime show.
In 2015, Amfo took over from Fearne Cotton as BBC Radio 1's mid-morning show.
What other TV shows has she been on?
Amfo appeared in the 18th series of Strictly Come Dancing. Sadly she was the fifth celebrity to be eliminated from the dancing competition.
As well as presenting for BBC Three, she fronted the channel's coverage of Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury festival and T in The Park. Along with Capital FM’s Roman Kemp she hosted the Brit Awards 2018 red carpet.
