Who is Meena Jutla's barrister in Emmerdale? Amy Robbin's life off air from famous siblings to where you have seen her before

It's the week everyone has been waiting for in Emmerdale as evil serial killer Meena Jutla's crimes finally catch up with her, it's an event that is already causing uproar and turmoil in the village.

Even being behind bars is not stopping murderous Meena's manipulative ways, however, as the trial kicks off with a bang some viewers have been distracted by a familiar face.

Meena stands trial soon for her huge list of crimes, including the murders of Leanna Cavanagh, Ben Tucker and Andrea Tate as the upcoming court case is set to air on ITV from April 11.

The evil character, played by Paige Sandhu, is preparing to take to the stand but she isn't plotting alone, in a recent episode Meena's defence barrister visited her cell with an update on her case.

Defence Barrister Milligan revealed it was her job to get a not guilty verdict from the jury for Meena, and set her free.

But in order for her plan to set Meena free to work, she must build a case to make Meena look innocent of her crimes, and with little physical evidence already helping them out, some fear she could get off scot free.

Meena's new barrister is portrayed by actress Amy Robbins, who viewers were quick to point out was rather familiar.

Here is everything we know about Amy Robbins including where you might have seen her before and who her famous siblings are.

Who is Defence Barrister Milligan actress Amy Robbins?

Amy Robbins is probably best known for her role as Dr Jill Weatherill in the hugely popular ITV period drama The Royal between 2003 and 2011.

The 51-year-old actress has also starred in shows such Heartbeat, EastEnders, Casualty and Hollyoaks.

Amy made her first very brief appearance as Meena's barrister in the plea hearing back in March.

Emmerdale viewers were delighted to see the star make another appearance and we'll be seeing a lot more of her in the coming weeks as Meena's long-awaited trial finally gets underway.

Who are Amy Robbins famous siblings?

Amy's sister Kate Robbins, who looks very much like her, recently appeared in Netflix's After Life and BBC's EastEnders (BBC/Kieron McCarron/Jack Barnes)

While some Emmerdale fans couldn't quite put their finger on where they had seen her before, others viewers were convinced it was singer and actress Kate Robbins - mum to comedian and actress Emily Atack.

However, it was soon confirmed by Kate herself that it was in fact her lookalike sister Amy.

Kate tweeted in response to the rumours: "Nope. That’s my sis Amy," later adding: "When the Robbins sisters are in same room as the McGann brothers people just think there’s two people".

In response to another confused fan she replied: "That’s my sister Amy".

The Robbins family certainly aren't without talent, Amy's sister, Kate, has had a hugely success showbiz career spanning more than four decades.

She is best recognised for her roles in Spitting Image and more recently featured in EastEnders and Netflix's hit show After Life.

And the talent doesn't stop there, Amy and Kate's brother Ted Robbins is also in the public eye.

Ted is a comic, actor and TV presenter who many may know from stints in Coronation Street, Benidorm and Doctors.

Not forgetting Amy's niece Emily Atack who found fame on The Inbetweeners, later soaring in popularity following a stint in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in 2018.
