Who is leading the Giro d'Italia 2026? Jonas Vingegaard grows his hold over the pink jersey on stage 16

Jonas Vingegaard built his lead at the Giro d'Italia further on Tuesday's stage 16, winning on the climb to Carì to move four minutes ahead of his nearest challenger.

It meant a fourth stage win in four summit finishes at the Italian Grand Tour, and means he looks nailed on to triumph in Rome on Sunday. There was a reshuffle in the general classification top 10, as Afonso Eulálio (Bahrain Victorious) slipped off the podium, with Felix Gall (Decathlon CMA CGM), Thymen Arensman (Netcompany-Ineos) and Jai Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe) all moving up.

Eulálio retains the young rider's white jersey, while there were no changes in the points and mountains classifications, those still being led by Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step) and Vingegaard, respectively. However, challengers gained ground, with Jhonatan Narvaéz (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) taking points, and Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) scooping some mountain prizes.
