Love Island 2022 is well underway, and one of the bombshells who have entered the villa is Jacques O’Neill.
From Cumbria originally, the 23-year-old star is also reportedly the ex-partner of Liverpool striker Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma, who has been in the series since it started last week.
In the teaser for Sunday night’s show, she could be heard saying: “Oh my god, that’s my ex-boyfriend.”
Asked why he was single in an interview released by the show, he said: “I split up with my ex and then I was seeing someone else. I was concentrating so much on my rugby and then I had that injury. I think it needs to be the right person, at the right time.”

Who is Jacques O’Neill?
Jacques is a 23-year-old rugby pro from Cumbria. Most recently, he played as hooker or loose forward for the Castleford Tigers in the Betfred Super League.
Speaking about going on the show, he said: “I’ll bring laughs. I’m very straight up – I don’t beat around the bush. Just good vibes.”
The star also said that he’d like to have a baby “in two or three years”, adding: “I think I’d be good with babies too, they’d be good looking wouldn’t they?”
He also revealed why he thinks he’s such a catch, saying that he’s “loyal, respectful”, and that he’s got “good manners”.
The sportsman described what gives him the “ick”, saying: “People singing Christmas songs! I was seeing this girl and it was just before Christmas and she started singing Christmas songs in the car and it went through me - it gave me the ick bad.”
On whether it takes him a long time to fall in love, he said he literally knows if a girl will be his girlfriend “within a week”, and that he “falls pretty quickly”.
