More than two years have passed since Elon Musk bought social network Twitter for $44 billion in late 2022. Since then the company, now known as X, has seen its valuation plummet to about $9.4 billion in October 2024, though it also has brought Musk major strategic benefits by providing him with a massive communications platform to push forward the controversial political agenda of his close ally President Trump.
