The Rockets remain in the relatively early stages of a franchise rebuild, with an emphasis on developing younger players. As a result, it shouldn’t be a shock that Houston (20-62) isn’t part of the 2022 NBA playoffs.
Houston has now missed the playoffs for two straight years, immediately after an NBA-best streak of eight consecutive playoff berths. That run came under the leadership former superstar James Harden.
Even now, the Rockets are still represented relatively well in the 2022 postseason by many former players — starting with Harden (Philadelphia 76ers) and former co-star Chris Paul (Phoenix Suns).
