Manchester United will face a Champions League dropout for the right to progress through in the Europa League.
After finishing second in their Europa League group, the Red Devils could now be drawn against the likes of Barcelona and Juventus for a place in the last-16 stage.
Last week’s 1-0 win at Real Sociedad meant they missed out on a bye to the knockout stage proper on goal difference.
Clubs from the same country cannot be drawn against each other, though United are the sole English team needing to navigate the play-offs.
Who can Manchester United face in the Europa League draw?
Champions League third-placed teams: Ajax, Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, Sporting CP, Juventus, Salzburg, Shakhtar Donetsk.
When is the Europa League draw?
