Who are the HTS rebels who've taken control of Damascus?

Just a week ago, rebels kicked off their battle against the Syrian regime from their base in Idlib, in the northwest of Syria.

Since then, the insurgents have stormed through major cities and seized the capital of Damascus, overthrowing president Bashar al-Assad on Sunday, December 8 in a historic moment for the nation.
