White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announces birth of daughter Viviana

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, has announced the birth of her second child, a daughter named Viviana, with her husband Nicholas Riccio, 60, a real estate developer.

The couple, who have a 32-year age gap, also share a son, Nicholas “Niko” Riccio, who was born in July 2024.

Leavitt shared the news on X, writing: “On May 1st, Viviana aka “Vivi” joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love.”

She added: “She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble.”

She also thanked supporters for their messages during her pregnancy, adding: “Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy - I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good.”

Leavitt began maternity leave in late April 2026 and is expected to return to her White House role after spending time with her family.

Leavitt told Fox News before the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last month that President Donald Trump’s speech would be “funny” and that “there will be some shots fired tonight in the room.” The phrase was meant as a normal expression for political jokes that the POTUS usually makes in his speeches. However, shortly after, a real security incident involving gunfire occurred at the event, which caused the clip to go viral. The shooter was captured and nobody in the venue got hurt except a security personnel who exchanged gunfire with the attacker.
