White Christmas odds as analysts identify parts of UK to get snow on December 25

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas... but will it be a white one in Ayrshire?

Ayrshire Live can today reveal that one part of the region has a 77.95 per cent probability of enjoying snowfall on Christmas morning.

Amid the news that bookies have slashed the odds on a white Christmas for the first time in 12 years, LotteryCritic.com have analysed the probability of snowfall in 363 districts to determine which UK region is most likely to have snow this Christmas.

And one part of the Ayrshire region has sneaked into the Scottish top 10.

East Ayrshire, which boasts such iconic and elevated landscapes such as Cumnock’s Blackcraig Hill and Cairn Table and Loudoun Hill, Darvel, could enjoy a fairy-tale white Christmas, if the analysts are correct with their maths!

The analysts also claim that East Ayrshire is the 9th most likely place in Scotland- and 13th most likely place in the UK- to see snowfall on December 25.

For South Ayrshire, higher ground like Brown Carrick Hill, just south of Ayr, or Girvan’s Grey Hill, could see a smattering of snow.

The boffins at LotteryCritic.com reckon there’s a 70.31 per cent probability of a white Christmas in South Ayrshire, so know knows?

But that percentage leaves South Ayrshire down the pecking order somewhat, as the 36th most likely place in the UK to see snow on Christmas Day.

What about North Ayrshire?

The current predictions say there’s a 64.38 per cent chance of snowfall in that part of the region.

But that could still mean snowfall on elevated hills and mountains such as Irish Law, Largs, or the Sourlie Hill standing stones, near Irvine.

North Ayrshire is just 64th in the most likely places in the UK to get a white Christmas.

Moray is the district most likely area in Scotland - and the UK - have a white Christmas, with a 95.87 per cent probability of snowfall.
