- A London Underground worker, Micky Steeds, was unfairly dismissed after raising concerns about exposure to asbestos and other toxic dust across the network.
- Mr Steeds, who cleaned vents and lift shafts, discovered the dust he was exposed to contained dangerous levels of substances including asbestos, chromium, arsenic, silicates, and iron oxide.
- He won an employment tribunal earlier this year, which found his dismissal was unfair due to his "genuine and reasonable" belief that he and colleagues were in danger.
- Mr Steeds now believes all tube users should be aware of the risks, stating that hazardous waste was sometimes dumped on tracks and breathed in by passengers.
- Transport for London (TfL) maintains strict controls are in place to ensure safety from asbestos exposure and is currently considering the tribunal's findings.
