When you have all of time and space at your fingertips, where to start can be very daunting. That’s the issue presented by Doctor Who, the British time-travel sci-fi show that has been running for over 60 years (albeit with some hiatuses). Through 14 different actors as the Doctor and dozens of actors as “companions,” there’s about 500 hours worth of TV to catch up on.
If you’re someone who wants the full experience, then you can start from “An Unearthly Child” all the way back in 1963, but be warned that not every episode is good, and some are completely lost altogether. But if you’re looking for a curated selection of where to start with this show, then you have a couple different options, depending on how much time you’re willing to spend in the TARDIS.
