Canberrans will be able to catch a glimpse of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla today.
The King and Queen will attend events at Australian Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial as part of their official visit to Australia.
It is the King's first visit to Australia as Sovereign, and the first visit to Australia by a reigning monarch since 2011.
Where to see them
Due to timing, and travel logistics, it will not be possible to attend both events.
12.35pm: Canberrans can meet Their Majesties as they make their way to the For Our Country memorial at the Australian War Memorial western grounds and Sculpture Garden.
1pm: Catch a glimpse of Their Majesties at Parliament House. Formalities will begin with a Ceremonial Welcome, followed by a chance to meet The King and Queen on the Parliament House forecourt at 2.10pm.
Catch a free shuttle bus
Free shuttle services will run every 15 minutes prior to the King and Queen's anticipated arrival times. Return shuttles will also run afterwards.
Australian War Memorial event:
- Shuttles will begin at about 10am.
- Buses will depart from the City Interchange platform 5, via Canberra Centre, to bus stop 4797 on Treloar Crescent.
Parliament House event:
- Shuttles will begin at about 10.30am.
- Buses will depart from City Interchange platform 3 and drop off at Parliament House.
Catching a bus from your closest major bus interchange or the light rail to the city is also a great option.
Fare-free travel is still available on all bus and light rail services across the network as part of the transition to the new MyWay+ system.
Impacted bus routes
- Route 54 will be diverted in both directions from 10am to approximately 1pm on Monday, October 21.
- Routes 57 and 58 will be diverted in both directions from 10am to approximately 3pm on Monday, October 21.
A number of bus stops in Reid, Campbell and around Parliament House will not be serviced from 10am to approximately 3pm on Monday 21 October 2024.

Road closures
There will be road closures near the Australian War Memorial from around 10am until 1.30pm. There will also be further closures around Parliament House between 1pm and 3pm. Other traffic disruption information can be found here.
