Not long after the NFL draft at the end of this month, the Tennessee Titans will learn their exact 2022 schedule. Back in January, we learned the teams that Mike Vrabel’s squad would be playing, sans date and time, of course.
According to Eat, Drink, and Sleep Football, the Titans will play the eighth-easiest strength of schedule based on 2021 opponent records.
This is another formula used to calculate strength of schedule. We previously highlighted Tennessee’s strength of schedule based on projected win totals, which you can check out here.
Tennessee will see their usual slate of games against AFC South division rivals, and will have contests against each team from the NFC East and AFC West. The Titans will also face teams from the AFC East, AFC North, and NFC North. Tennessee’s full list of 2022 opponents can be found here.
Since the list was initially revealed, several of the Titans’ 2022 opponents upgraded their rosters significantly this offseason.
The Los Angeles Chargers already have a budding superstar in quarterback Justin Herbert, but they added on the defensive side of the ball in outside linebacker Khalil Mack, defensive tackles Austin Johnson and Sebastian Joseph-Day, and cornerback J.C. Jackson.
The Raiders traded for former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, and then signed him to five-year, $141.25 million contract, giving quarterback Derek Carr another weapon.
The Broncos made headlines this offseason with their acquisition of quarterback Russell Wilson, while also luring Randy Gregory away from the Dallas Cowboys on a five-year, $70 million contract.
Despite the Kansas City Chiefs trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, the Titans still have to deal with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
The Titans will also see Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, which is certainly no small task. Rodgers is still a problem, even after losing his top target in Adams this offseason.
As we’ve previously noted, half of Tennessee’s opponents in 2022 made the playoffs a year ago. Health-dependent, the Titans figure to compete for their third-straight AFC South championship.
