When Sleepless in Seattle first hit the big screen 30 years ago nobody would have anticipated the holding power it would have in the industry.
The flick sees a newly widowed Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) make the move to Seattle with his young son, who tries to get him back into the world of dating.
When Sam eventually goes picks up the phone on a radio talk show after much persuasion from son Jonah, he catches the attention of Annie Reed (Meg Ryan), who lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
The rest, as they say, is history, with the movie going on to receive two Academy Award nominations for best original song and best original screenplay.
But what about the stars? Let's look at what happened to some of the main characters from the film and where they are today.
Tom Hanks
Tom was already an Academy Award nominated actor before his role on the 1993 production. However, following Sleepless in Seattle he went on to play a number of huge roles, including You've Got Mail alongside Meg Ryan once again.
Other movies he starred in include The Green Mile, Cast Away, The Da Vinci Code and Elvis, while he was also the voice of Woody in Toy Story.
Along with his impressive collection of Oscars wins, Tom has also been honoured with an AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, a Kennedy Center Honors medallion, Presidential Medal of Freedom, and a French Leigon of Honor.
Just for good measure, he was also given the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2020.
Meg Ryan
Like co-star Tom, Meg's career went from strength to strength after Sleepless in Seattle.
She was the main star in a number of huge hits, including Addicted to Love, City of Angels, the earlier mentioned You've Got Mail, and In The Cut.
In 2004, she took a three-year hiatus from filming, but got straight back into it with big hitters such as My Mom's New Boyfriend on her return.
Another break came on the back of some projects that didn't get off the ground and more recently has led a more reclusive life away from the limelight.
In 2023, fans labelled her unrecognisable when she turned up to support long-time pal Michael J Fox's new documentary project.
Ross Malinger
Ross took on the role of Jonah Baldwin in Sleepless in Seattle. The son of Tom's character, Ross put in an impressive performance which led to further opportunities in the industry as he grew up.
He mainly featured in TV shows rather than on the big screen, such as Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, Seinfeld, Party of Five and Recess.
According to IMDB, though, his career suddenly came to a standstill in 2006, with his last known credit coming in an episode of Without a Trace.
Rosie O'Donnell
Rosie was initially discovered on Star Search as a stand-up comedian before landing some TV roles of her own.
In Sleepless in Seattle, she starred as Annie's friend Becky. Her impressive performance saw her move on to other big roles such as a part in The Flintstones, Beautiful Girls, and the older version of Christina Ricci's character in Now and Then.
She went back to the small screen in 2002 when she landed her own daytime talk show called The Rosie O'Donnell Show.
She also had a number of guest appearances on some of the biggest shows in television, including Will & Grace, Ally McBeal and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Most recently she has made a success of shows such as American Gigolo and The L Word: Generation Q.
Away from on-screen work, she has also penned four books and two memoirs.
Rita Wilson
Rita landed the role of the main character's sister in the film. Since then she too has continued her rise in the industry, starring in Now and Then with Rosie O'Donnell, and Runaway Bride alongside Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
Other big productions included Jingle All the Way and Psycho, before going on to feature in the likes of Old Dogs with Robin Williams.
She took steps to go behind the camera later in her career, with her executive producing My Big Fat Great Wedding 2 as well as starring in it.
Other big name productions she worked behind the scenes on include Mamma Mia.
Perhaps surprisingly, she is also a successful musician and released four albums.
