Where is Matt Hancock and when will he be on I'm A Celebrity?

After the controversy following Matt Hancock's I'm A Celebrity appearance, fans were left confused as he failed to appear on the first episode last night.

The Tory MP confirmed that he has joined the ITV show but was nowhere to be seen on the launch show. The rest of the celebs who entered the jungle including Boy George, Sue Cleaver, Owen Warner, Scarlette Douglas, Mike Tindall, Charlene White, Chris Moyles, Jill Scott, Babatúndé Aléshé and Olivia Attwood made their way to the camp last night.

At their initial meet and greet, the group of celebrities were told that some were voted by the public to be "Jungle VIPs" whilst voters were also tasked with deciding who would have the toughest journey into camp and face the first trial.

While the celebrities got ready to head to the jungle, many were left wondering where Mr Hancock was. However, at the start of the show, Ant and Dec confirmed that two more celebs will be joining the camp afterwards.

In previous years of the show there is usually a few late arrivals who soon make themselves comfortable in camp but will Matt's jungle experience be comfortable? Matt Hancock's spokesperson has confirmed he will be entering the jungle at some point.

A spokesperson for the Tory MP said of his rumoured £600,000 fee: "Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and causes supporting dyslexia off the back of his appearance.

"He will also declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal. This is an amazing opportunity to engage with the public and talk about issues he really cares about - including his dyslexia campaign.

"Matt is still working on constituency matters and will continue to do so up until he goes into the jungle. Producers have agreed that Matt can communicate with his team throughout the show if there's an urgent constituency matter."

It's a certainty that Mr Hancock is set for a grilling when he finally enters the camp but bosses of the show have insisted they didn't put him in the camp to be "divisive". Executive producer Olly Nash said: "We’ve put in loads of politicians over the years.

"We also put in people who have had very very strong views about certain things and sometimes it plays out in camp and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s not a question of trying to divide camp, we have never been a deliberately divisive camp. It’s up to them to come into the camp and it’s up to them if they want to leave."

Hancock is not the first MP to appear on the show, joining the likes of MEP Stanley Johnson and Nadine Dorries.

During Monday's episode of Good Morning Britain, entertainment reporter Vick Hope confirmed that Matt will be making his first appearance in just 48 hours.

"He's set to enter camp on Wednesday," Vick said. However, she added that, according to reports, the MP is already receiving special treatment. It is claimed he was granted special permission to access his laptop and phone to carry on working during his isolation period.
