DONALD Trump defeated Kamala Harris in the US election this week but he is also known across Scotland for his golf courses.
Trump has previously talked about his connection to Scotland, with his mother having been born in Lewis.
He also recently outlined his opposition to Scottish independence, saying he hoped the UK stayed together.
Here’s all you need to know about his golf courses.
What golf courses does Donald Trump own?
Trump famously owns Turnberry on the South Ayrshire coast – which has hosted golf’s Open Championship four times, although it has not returned there since it was last held at the venue in 2009.
Organisers removed the venue from the rota in 2021 following the Capitol riots.
Overall, Trump Turnberry (below) is home to three courses while, in the north east, he also owns Trump International.
Located around 10 miles north of Aberdeen near Balmedie, this course opened in 2012.
Is Donald Trump building a new golf course?
The president-elect is planning to open a second golf course in Aberdeenshire next year with the 18-hole MacLeod Course – named after his mother – to be completed at the Trump International resort in Menie from summer 2025.
It has previously attracted controversy with the dunes at Menie having lost their status as a nationally-important protected environment.
Following his victory in the election, the business that runs Trump’s golf courses welcomed what they said was “wonderful news”.
Executive vice president Sarah Malone said Trump and his family’s commitment and investment in Scotland will remain “unwavering”.
