When will Storm Franklin end and what can we expect from the UK weather next?

After three named storms in a week, it looks as if the UK is in for more unsettled weather for the next few days.

Weather warnings linked to Storm Franklin end at 1pm on Monday and no further weather warnings for the UK have been issued by the Met Office yet - although there could be some in the coming days.

The country has faced a barrage of stormy weather with Storm Dudley last Thursday and Storm Eunice on Friday causing widespread destruction - three people in the UK died on Friday.

Homes were still left without power over the weekend after Eunice, while Franklin has caused numerous incidents overnight and into Monday including people needing to be rescued from stranded cars in flash-flooding in Yorkshire and motorway closures in the North-West of England.

When will Storm Franklin end?

A yellow wind warning is in place until 1pm (Met Office)

A Met Office weather warning remains in place until 1pm on Monday, covering Northern Ireland, coastal areas in south and west Scotland, most of England (except the north-east) and Wales.

The Met Office says in its latest UK forecast that showers or longer spells of rain and hill snow will slowly die away through this morning becoming largely dry this afternoon with sunny spells.

It says strong and gusty winds affecting Northern Ireland, England and Wales will begin easing this afternoon.

Tonight, there could be rain and drizzle with heavy, possible squally rain, in the North West later.

What happens next?

On Tuesday, the Met Office says to expect a band of cloud and rain, locally heavy at first in the north, clearing to sunshine and scattered showers.

These will be wintry and locally heavy in the north and it will remain windy.

Wednesday will be mainly dry in the south and east, but there could be some heavy rain and wintry showers elsewhere.

Thursday will be cold with blustery sleet/snow showers and sunny spells between.

Friday is set to be fine with some sunshine and lighter winds
