When Virat Kohli's bat and Ravichandran Ashwin's ball ruled: India cleansweep New Zealand 3-0

NEW DELHI: India, under the dynamic leadership of Virat Kohli, delivered a commanding performance, achieving an impressive clean sweep against New Zealand by winning the three-match Test series 3-0 in 2016.

The series kicked off in Kanpur, where India secured a convincing victory by 197 runs, taking a 1-0 lead.

Next, the action moved to the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata for the second Test. India maintained their dominant form, winning by a significant margin of 178 runs, which sealed the series in their favor.

In the final Test held in Indore, India aimed for a complete clean sweep against a struggling New Zealand side, having already clinched the series. They dominated the match, crushing New Zealand by 321 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin played a crucial role in this victory, taking six wickets in the first innings and seven in the second, leading India to a resounding win and completing the 3-0 sweep. His remarkable performance earned him the Player-of-the-Match award.

In addition to Ashwin's stellar bowling, the batting lineup displayed exceptional performance. Virat Kohli led from the front, scoring his second double-century as captain.

His commanding presence at the crease, combined with impressive centuries from Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, set a formidable target for the New Zealand side.

India are once again set to take New Zealand in the three-match Test series. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma.

The opening Test will be played in Bengaluru, followed by matches in Pune and Mumbai on October 24 and November 1, respectively.
