When is Spotify Wrapped 2024?

Spotify Wrapped in 2023 - (Spotify)

It is coming close to that time of year – when you have to decide whether to show off the music you have been listening to for the past 12 months, or if your guilty pleasures should remain a secret.

Spotify Wrapped will reveal which artists and songs you’ve listened to the most in 2024 and whether you are embarrassed by your cheesy picks, or feel proud of listening to obscure artists, it’s always interesting to see how your favourites stack up.

Here is what we know about when this year’s round-ups will drop.

What is Spotify Wrapped?

It is a round up of your most-listened-to songs of 2024 that you can then share on social media with snazzy graphics created by the app.

Each user gets their very own compilation of what they have loved listening to. From their top songs, artists and genres to just how many minutes they have spent listening.

It all pops up on the Spotify app on the date Wrapped is released.

When is Spotify Wrapped released for 2024?

The short answer is, we do not actually know yet.

But eagle-eyed users believe it could be imminent as the music platform has dropped a small hint it’s coming.

Last Thursday, the streaming service said in a pop-up in the app that "2024 is almost a wrap”, and urged users to update the app to get it ready.

While it’s generally believed that tracking begins on January 1 each year, the end date is contested. In 2021, a source from Spotify told Newsweek that tracking ended in October, which gave the team enough time to prepare the information and data featured in the campaign. But, two years later, Spotify threw a spanner in the works when they responded to one Twitter user, claiming that tracking for Wrapped continued past October 31.

When have previous Spotify Wrapped come out?

Past history suggests it's coming soon. 2024 will be the ninth year of the round-up.

In 2023 and 2022, it was released on November 30 while, in 2021 and 2020, it was December 1.

In 2019, it came out on December 5.
