Loosely inspired by Thomas Pynchon's 1990 novel Vineland, One Battle After Another stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Bob, a former revolutionary who has given up his radical lifestyle in order to look after his teenage daughter. But as the title suggests, the war isn't over for Bob just yet, and he's about to be pulled back into the fray. The film also stars Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, and Teyana Taylor.

One Battle After Another's streaming release date

One Battle After Another was met with rave reviews on release. It currently sits with a highly impressive 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes and it performed exceptionally well in our list of the 25 Best Movies of 2025. Warner Bros are clearly keen to get the film out in time for the holidays – following its PVOD release back in November, it is finally coming to streaming on HBO Max this month.

We previously predicted on this page that the film would start streaming in mid-December – and we were right. It has now been confirmed that One Battle After Another will be streaming on HBO Max from December 19, so make sure to watch one of the year's most provocative and gripping movies.
