Marathon release date and platforms

Marathon is scheduled to release in March 2026, with no specific date confirmed yet. It’s a paid title, currently targeting the price of $39.99/€39.99/£34.99, similar to ARC Raiders, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Purchasing Marathon gives full access to the game, including free gameplay updates. This includes new maps, new Runner Shells, events, and more, starting with the exploration of UESC Marathon’s Cryo Archive in season one.
What to expect from Marathon?

Marathon is an extraction shooter set in a dark sci-fi world where you sacrificed your physical form for a disposable biosynthetic body. Drop into the zones of Tau Ceti to complete objectives for different factions, gather loot, or hunt other players.
The game is class-based, which means there are different character archetypes (aka Runner Shells) you can choose from, each with a distinct playstyle and abilities. There’s an archetype for stealth, support, tracking, and more. On top of that, you can further expand the Shell’s kit by buildcrafting with Cores and Implants.
Previously, the game was set to release on Sept. 23, 2025. Bungie decided to postpone the release due to strong player feedback after the alpha playtest. The developer’s primary focus since then has been on implementing more engaging AI encounters, improving visual fidelity, and adding social experiences.
Marathon has experienced multiple improvements over the past few months, including the addition of highly-demanded features, like proximity chat and solo queue. With the unique art style and dark setting, it could be the next big title for hardcore extraction shooter fans.
