When and where is winter Love Island? Fans don't have long to wait for series 9

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti may have only just been crowned winners of Love Island 2022 but the countdown to the new season of the ITV2 dating show is officially on. Earlier this year bosses announced the return of winter Love Island, and it's not long until the series is back on our screens.

In 2023, fans of the show will get to tune into two series of the popular programme, with the first just months away. It means those already missing their Love Island fix don't have long to wait.

Back in June, ITV2 announced a new series of Love Island would kick off in the New Year. The first and only winter Love Island aired in 2020 and saw Paige Turley and Finn Tapp win the show.

The first winter Love Island took place in South Africa and now bosses have confirmed a fresh batch of Islanders will be returning to South Africa on a quest for love and romance in January 2023.

Meanwhile, summer 2023 will then see the dating show return to Mallorca for another eight-week run. Both series will come to ITV2 and ITVX in 2023.

Executive Producer at Lifted Entertainment, Mike Spencer, said "After eight brilliant series, we are excited to be serving up two helpings of love in 2023 by kicking off in January at a stunning new villa in South Africa.

"We can look forward to more romances, bromances and everything in between as we embark on another epic year of love."

Applications for Love Island 2023 are now open. While the audition and casting period is to be confirmed, a statement on the ITV website reads: "How do you fancy finding love in the sun? ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who want to head to the sun, in search of love!

"The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another, but to remain in paradise they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island. If you think you’ve got what it takes, then we want to hear from you straight away." For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
