A formal White House dinner brings together more than a meal. The menu, table decorations, music and other details can all mirror the occasion. American ingredients with elements inspired by Chinese culinary and cultural traditions will highlight the Thursday night's dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are hosting Xi and Peng in the East Room of the White House. The dinner comes after a day of meetings between Trump and Xi. Official delegations, government authorities and business leaders will be the members.
