After a long wait, the ninth season of Love Island kicked off last night, but not without a few bumps along the way. Just minutes into the show, ITV experienced some technical problems, which continued to cause problems as the show went on. Despite the technical errors the show did go on and we now have five couples.
The first episode of every season tends to follow the same pattern, with the exception of last summer where the public put the couple together, which eventually proved to be more of an unpopular choice. Going back to tradition, producers had the boys enter the villa first and get to know each other a little bit before meeting the girls.
We found out that Ron was blind in one eye, making him the first ever visually-impaired contestant in the villa. Haris and Will have never been in proper relationships and that Shaq is there to find a wife, telling producers in his VT that he 'can’t let my girlfriend stop me finding my wife'.
