What you can expect at the new restaurant next to Swansea Arena and what it will be called

A new restaurant and bar next to Swansea Arena is hoping to open when the first acts perform next door.

The business next to the new 3,500 venue is the latest venture by the family team behind the popular Secret Beach Bar and Kitchen at St Helen's, who are working flat-out to make sure they can open when the arena hosts its first live events at the end of the month.

And they have finally revealed the new name of the business - The Green Room Bar and Kitchen.

Siblings Ryan and Lucy Hole have said they will be running the new restaurant and café, which has space for sixty people as well as outdoor seating, as sustainably as possible.

Ryan said: "The green room is a place where performers go to before they go onto the main stage, and we were looking for a name which would play on that.

"Our aim is to be as sustainable as possible, as that is something we are already very passionate about in our other venue. We buy as many of our supplies as possible from local suppliers, and we want to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible.

"We are trying to eliminate single use plastics, our serviettes and coffee cups are compostable, and over time we will improve when more opportunities become available.

"The Green Room will also have its own performance area to host live musicians, performers, poets and comedians. It's a romantic notion really to give up and coming talent the chance to perform just a stone's throw from the arena, and perhaps look over and think one day they will be able to take to the stage at Swansea Arena".

The Green Room will serve breakfast, brunch and lunch during the day, before transforming to a pre-gig venue by night.

It hopes to build on the success of The Secret Beach Bar and Kitchen, which opened in 2019 and has become hugely popular partly thanks to its location and stunning views over Swansea Bay.

The sun sets on The Green Room to be (The Green Room)

Swansea Arena is to host two 'housewarming' events on February 25 and 26, showcasing local talent, before comedian John Bishop becomes the first official performer at the venue on March 15.

And it is hoped The Green Room will be open in time for the first of those events.

Ryan said: "That is the plan and we are working flat out to make sure everything is ready.

"There are quite a few challenges but it is all hands on deck, and we hope to open for the housewarming events. We've had huge support from Swansea Council which has been a great help".
