Brazilians will choose between incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Flavio Bolsonaro in Sunday's polarizing presidential election, a contest that will determine whether the US will significantly expand its growing influence in Latin America. Bolsonaro bested Lula by more than 2.2 million votes in the first round of the election held earlier this month, but neither candidate secured an absolute majority, leading to Sunday's runoff.

Brazil is on the cusp of granting leftist incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva a fourth presidential term or pivoting to the far right again by electing Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, an ally of US President Donald Trump.
