What time is Nicola Sturgeon's Covid update today? How to watch and what to expect

Nicola Sturgeon will deliver an update on the state of the Covid pandemic in Scotland later today.

The First Minister is scheduled to address MSPs at the Scottish Parliament this afternoon.

It comes as ministers have continued to talk up the benefits of home working after the rules on working in the office were relaxed yesterday.

Opposition parties have called for the Scottish Government to encourage workers to get back into the office amid fears of the long term damage being done to Scotland’s city centre economies.

When will Nicola Sturgeon give her speech?

The First Minister will speak at around 2.20pm this afternoon (PA)

It is likely that Nicola Sturgeon will address MSPs at Holyrood from around 2.20pm this afternoon.

The First Minister tends to take around 20 minutes in her update the state of the pandemic in Scotland over the past week.

MSPs will then have around 40 minutes to cross examine the SNP leader’s statement.

Scots can tune into Nicola Sturgeon’s update through the Daily Record’s main Facebook page which can be found here.

We will also be live blogging the speech, which you will be able to view here.

The Scottish Parliament website will also have a stream of the speech as soon as it goes live this afternoon.

For those that prefer to watch on the TV, the BBC Scotland channel will have a coronavirus special on the special from 2.15pm today.

What is Nicola Sturgeon likely to say?

The First Minister will update the country on the latest 24 hour Covid data - including cases, hospitalisations and deaths.

Sturgeon will also provide an update on the vaccine rollout as NHS Scotland continues to work its way through the booster programme.

Scots may also learn more about the Scottish Government’s future strategy in living with Covid without the restrictive measures we have seen before.

The strategic framework document is expected to be released within the next few weeks.
