They can't seem to decide if they're mates or enemies and comedic scenes ensued as Phill Whittaker and Tyrone Dobbs scrapped over Fiz Stape. In Wednesday night's episode of Coronation Street (May 25) things got very messy as love rivals ended up rowing again.
On Monday night Fiz dumped Phill after finding out that her boyfriend was planning a book about her late husband, the serial killer John Stape. Seizing his opportunity her ex Tyrone called at the swanky house Fiz shared with Phill to collect her things.
He was hoping this would mean they’d be reunited. But as Tyrone berated Phill they lost their balance and fell headlong into wet cement on his patio. As Phill scoured the concrete, he mournfully revealed that he’d lost an engagement ring and was planning to pop the question to Fiz.

They became friends again as Tyrone found the ring and Phill declared gratefully: "Oh Tyrone I could snog your face off." But that wasn't the end of the high jinks as Phill produced an eight setting hose to rinse off the concrete and told Tyrone to strip.
"It's either that or get concrete inside your van," he told him. And the cement was swapped for water as the pair stripped to their pants and grappled with the hose.
Baffled Corrie fans took to Twitter to ask what was going on. @ASuperGav tweeted: "What the hell am I watching?" And @jabbso asked: "WTF even is this episode of #corrie #coronationstreet."
@GeorgiaBowring exclaimed: "#Corrie This is bloody ridiculous!" @CHG3899 asked: "Does Phill not have a shower?" And @djb0607 asked: "Remember when Phelan used to be violently murdering people? Is this the same show?"
But @FLady1980 said about the comic scenes: "I have to say when Tyrone and Phil are fighting always good fun to watch." @sofaneilas laughed: "Absolute children." And @EnfieldGarry wrote: "Them two are like a pair of kids."
Corrie's official Twitter shared behind-the-scenes photos of actors Alan Halsall and Jamie Kenna filming the fight scene and said with a laughing emoji: "We had some fun filming tonight's episode." "Hilarious tonight," said Shuna Eley. Sharon Trowsdale said: "So funny to watch!!" and @luvasunnyday commented: "Loved it, shades of old Corrie."
Later, back on Coronation Street in dry clothes, Phill pulled out the ring and asked Fiz to marry him as Tyrone made himself scarce. And as he returned to the house with his grandmother Evelyn Plummer her daughter Hope gleefully announced that the pair were engaged as Fiz showed off her sparkler.
@mrsjhutch28 tweeted: "Two days ago Fiz wanted nothing more to do with Phill, now she's accepted his proposal." And they added: "Not happy, I want her to get back with Tyrone!!" And the Conversation Street Podcast @ConversationStr joked: "Phill and Tyrone are having more fun together than they ever had with Fiz…"
